both lacebark & ribbonwood (tree) were used as plaiting/woven material…
It's amazing stuff! The round house we lived in had a lacebark which must have been pruned or something similar, because I remember watching the birds come and take strips of lace from it - presumably for nesting.

Today I spread all my compost from last summer, and it is FABULOUS! Masses of lovely dark pink wriggling wormies amidst the beautifully rotted down earth... I found an interesting grub which is an unknown to me. I wonder if any of you clever folk know it?

This little charmer showed its tiny face to me for the first time last week. It's a miniature iris and was given to me by a dear friend - I had no idea what to expect. It's face measures perhaps a couple of inches across.
