Kia ora Russell, I watched most of Media 7 this morning and was impressed. Not merely the same words & images being regurgitated.
Last time, I was all over the Twitter, taking photos, etc. This time - not so much. Bunkered down in the burbs, working at EOC.
As a city dweller & worker like many of my friends we are enjoying the kindness of friends & whanau. Seems like most people I know are at mother's or in-law's places. Thanks Mums (& Dads)
We are all fighting for our small victories. Seeing friends I haven't seen since quake is like a lungful of good air. And 2 year old who is a toughass.

Hard News: My Year in Culture, in reply to
Can't hardly wait, have to hit up my neighbour for 3 and 4.

And a blooming watershed year in terms of gigs (for me who doesn't get out much). Amanda Palmer, The Pixies, Rufus Wainwright and Leonard Cohen.

Misfits - show of the year. Some smart person on twitter said Misfits was the best, and Warney the worst. Can't argue with that.
I've seen the first two episodes of the new series and gosh darn it, it's getting even better. Smartarse curly boy Nathan is probably the best thing on tv.
Other cultural delights of 2010:
The Hurts Better than love - being a sucker for a tidy bit of 80s synth-ery, this had me all a-drool. Androgyny, ballet and suspenders.I was very keen to get my hold of the new Bryan Ferry album Olympia. Turns I like all the remixes far more that the album versions. Especially good - the Peter Kruder, Tim Goldworthy, and Carl Craig remixes of U can dance.
