Hard News: Reading the Numbers, in reply to
People are not inclined to double-check results that agree with their prejudices.
To harp on, I want to know why Coleman has this prejudice? For what gain? For whose gain? Because if the answers to these questions are personally driven, then he is not being a representative Minister, in my view.
And he has lied to enact a personal prejudice. Do we have checks and measures for this sort of thing? I think my questions equally apply to Mr Joyce's RONS prejudice.
Is it sufficient for them (and guesswork Bill) to simply state to us that these are things they don't need to explain (the mandate argument, the use of false statistics argument)? Are we not allowed to question their motives? Are we wrong to expect a truthful answer?
If so, we are screwed. -

<I tried to post this comment on that ZB page but it doesn't support Google identities and I don't do any of the other options - bastards!>
A serious limitation I have found as well, interesting. Monopolistic and protectionist behaviour from our Ministers and state broadcaster is corrupt in my view. Old double-dip Hosking is just another useful idiot in the ruse. Everyone is playing dumb while they haul in enormous benefits and salaries from both the taxpayer and private sources.
On other topic I had to goog NZSTA, http://www.nzsta.org.nz/ how does their being funded work?
What seems lacking from both topics is the need for accountability from Govt. This and transparency appear to be totally lacking.
It's demonstrably dictatorial behaviour.
I cite this as an example of plain stupid making for a very expensive cock-up in the making with seemingly no need for the Govt. to be held to account for their lack of planning...while the job is already in train.

My logic leap is that they are not being stupid, they are intentionally obfuscating to further their own agendas, whatever they may be, and that is corrupt. -
I think I can write it here...smells of corruption to me.

No wonder they don't want a tax on it....
But creating a carbon credit stock would work for them? The cynical might say that taxation is not providing enough for the cost of re-election.
Our current post WW2 system is both physically AND morally bankrupt. -

I think quite naturally, organically even, things have progressively got more and more sophisticated politically, over time, definitely since WW2.
These things have evolved as Govt. attempts to make revenue over and above tax levels that will still engender votes.

No one I know in business expects one red cent from the Govt to work anyway, too removed.

I was also looking for an article on funding for mental health care for teens in Auckland, could not find it again. It exemplifies the money - marketing model well. This is the system we have today. I would really like to know what expectations are held for MP's, especially internally. I don't think the current system is going to change for at least another 3 generations. It is not yet at peak.
Sadly nations (that old term) don't really reboot until after war. Meantime we are going to be provided with marketing as policy, tax and spend and borrow, tinkering round the edges and duopolistic leadership.
I can now retire from all political commentary ;-) And concentrate on life, those politicians and their cohorts are oxygen thieves! -
Thank you for your reply Matthew. Sarcasm is not my usual thing, but here it is because yes, this Govt's unusual lack of intelligence existent within a moral vacuum is there for all to see, if they choose to.
Simply, for me witnessing,
1. tax cuts for the upper end
2. GST increases for the lower end to pay for above
3. RONS, 14 billion cost?
4. asset sales, 5 billion one-off revenue? (currently delivering 18% return on equity PA).
No money for aged care workers, http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10808911What wankery is this?

What a wonderful set of comments, stoked!

"So, no, we can’t leave their “logic” to lie, because there is no logic and certainly there’s no sign of anything resembling fiscal rectitude."
Matthew, I was being heavily sarcastic. This RONS thing of all the evil things this Govt. has done, is the most glaringly stupid and cynical. Joyce should be investigated.
