...could Ronaldo get a break in that game?
Perhaps he was the boy who cried "Ref!"
Maybe he and Messi could throw a pity party for each other. I'm sure Maradona would obligingly jump out of a cake for them.
But true, he was closed out of the game, and got no help from the officials. Overall though wouldn't you say both teams played with amazing control and in good spirit? I missed the red card (in the final minute?), and am somewhat surprised.

This reminds me of using HitList way back in the 90s. Used to love trying to work out how the search strings arrived at our page. One I recall was; 'what causes flatulent'.
Yes sir!

Now you're just scaring me. You really do know everything, don't you?

Quite. Perhaps we're ready now for some, like, issues.

He truly was a renaissance man.
Or a pseudo-renaissance man.

So, my walk to the bookies wasn’t my post-post-colonial moment. It wasn’t even post-colonial. I’m still not-English. I’m the mild colonial boy, in a ditch, fighting for Ireland; I’m starving to death because the spud crop has failed—the grass juice is on my chin. Granted, the grass is drenched in extra-virgin olive oil and not many starving peasants drive Volvo estates, but it’s the state of mind that counts.

I just naively ran a straight Google search for the term "seagulling". Wow.
I'm truly thinking (hoping) he was thinking of something more innocent.

The best thing about football is the flow of the game. Slow it down and you may as well pick the ball up and run with it.
Brazil vs Chile. It was more like tennis at times, they moved up and down the field so fast.
I know the final I'd like to see, from a spectacle point of view. The goal scoring machines vs the world's wildest cheerleader.

Maybe he is the Messi(ah). He is being persecuted by his opponents without mercy!
MARADONA HITS OUT AT MESSI TREATMENT.

Well, better than this approach.

Stephen Fry - 'Mein Handy!'
If only there'd been a 'hand of god' moment in the match last night. But maybe it should be 'Mein handy dandy notebook' for this world cup. The Argentina Mexico game was good because there were whole minutes (minutes I tell you) when the whistle didn't blow.
And then when it mattered, they missed a glaring off-side and a blatant line crossing in consecutive matches. Still, what counts is the scoreboard, and at 3-1 and 4-1 can anyone really complain?*
* Stupid question alert.
England Robbed of 4-2 Loss to Germany, settles for 4-1 Loss to Germany.

I succumbed to the never-to-be-repeated opportunity for an in-context triple sort-of pun, not intended as a cheap shot, but as a comment on the depth of analysis of BP's motivations.
Here's one to dip your shtick in.
Yeah, my bad.

Because Robyn posted that Taylor Swift video, I give you this one:
I feel strangely liberated after that. Hmm, shall I post some Shania?
