    Chilly out there now

We have the southerly rain now and I'm not heading out into it. Instead one from two weeks ago as the plum blossoms were about to put out.

    And closer.
The corrugated zincalume not my choice of fencing, but it does make for a good back-drop and interesting drop-refraction.

    Local spring rain

Those drops look beautiful, like polished amber or kauri gum?

Lovely day in Gisborne today. Mid-morning, kitchen window view again but with focus on the windows through the alder tree - black backed gull at left, Town Hill/Whataupoko trig at right, 3 km away.

That will be a great crop!

Sould be, with a little help from its friends.

    And 15 minutes later.

Apart from the framing, I see a resemblance to yours in my plum tree on Tuesday. Today's sky not at all like this though.

Evocative pictures, Russell. The one with the drift of leaves, particularly.

    Forced to leave

    they left.
    Present tense –
    leaves enter
    unbidden.
    All that’s left,
    not yet past.

photographing the tui in the campanulata cherries.

Rings a well-tempered cheery bell for me, thanks for your effort!

Colour change - my first of the year and these a good Spring indicator yet somehow Freezias suggestive of brass monkey weather?

  • Southerly: Continuing After A Short Interruption, in reply to Raymond A Francis,

Fantastic, tear to the eye stuff
But that Bob, he is going to go far

    Agreed in all respects.
Bob has excellent literary judgement too. Unquestionably my favourite 'picture book' when I was first time round on such books was Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel, first published 1942, birth year of my oldest brother. A 1987 printing remains on the shelf ready to hand after great enjoyment by two daughters and their parents.

David - I followed the link to refresh the extraordinary immediacy of your EQ story on the day - and note the footnote refers to Guardian publication on 22Feb2010, more than just the time-zone difference there.

  • Capture: Upside Down, Inside Out,

Thanks Hebe, Ian and Joe for responses on the Avon footbridge - I look forward to seeing it installed somewhere appropriate when the time and place is right, for Christchurch peoples, then for me.

I'm yet to revisit Christchurch since the earthquakes. Unsure how I'll respond but there must be strong emotional components in the first-hand experience - my first photo posted on Capture was of the CBD from jet-height in November 2011 and even that and then had a big impact on me.
