Are any others a little concerned about a team called the All Whites going to South Africa?
All Whites might be vaguely survivable, fans with placards reading 'White Power!'? Yes, very amusing and transgressive. Dick.

Used to have a board on the back of a door in a flat. Passed it many many times.

Typical of big party antidemocrats to come over all reasonable.
Sneaky bugger

Originally we needed a better way of selecting the parliament so they actually represented "us" and there were fewer of them. We ended up getting more MPs.
No, the first referendum was very clear that there would be 120 MPs in an MMP parliament. 60 electorate and 60 list. I have some recollection that the Commission recommended a 120 MP parliament even if FPP was retained, but that might not have made it to Govt proposals. And MMP still won.
And that better (ie, more representative) representation was achieved is hard to argue against.

It will be interesting to see what kind of crowd they pull for the soccer - if it is actually a sellout. I would predict 'not quite' - maybe 30,000 - and certainly not the need for that extra seating they can put in.
They will probably have to let people into both halves of the stadium :)
'Allocation exhausted'. Which may not mean sold out depending on what allocation means. But certainly suggests they could easily sell out given there's almost a month to go. And perhaps will consider the extra seating if they haven't already.

New Zealanders celebrate winners, not qualifiers. Anything else is for losers.
And so we throw everything into a sport which is the undisputed national game practically nowhere else and is only seriously played in half a dozen countries?
Whatever, we're a small country and we'll never be winners in a mainstream global sport. Being winners in rowing, netball and rugby might make you feel better, but really, if the rest of the world cared, we'd be relegated to being losers and struggling to qualify.
And that's ok. Really.

Dude...Next
Wow, you seem, somehow... invested.

Speaking of Chomsky, few other widely respected academics have had so many theories disproven.
Really? I don't having anything to go by here, maybe you do. But I'd be very surprised if anyone who was on the cutting edge of any newish field of inquiry 40 odd years ago didn't have a lot of their theories disproven by now. Have no idea if Chomsky is out of the mainstream in that.
Being wrong isn't something a scientist should lose respect for anyway. It's easy to not be wrong.

We've known for years that volcanic eruptions cause global cooling a la nuclear wnter but not the reverse.
So how long until Bob Carter or someone suggests that even if the globe does warm, it'll end up setting off a few volcanoes that will inject a bunch of fine particulates into the atmosphere and cool the globe down?
Voila - climate equilibrium (with added CO2 and fertile volcanic soils for that maximum crop yield).
