Although why were the Blackcaps wearing what looked like white tshirts?
Canterbury strikes again! I don't like the shirts - they're not cricket.
It's also weird having a shirt sponsor (DEC) who doesn't appear to have a presence in NZ.

Spiro Zavos has a good article comparing the Kangaroos with the All Blacks in their last World Cups: The Roar Daily
I like the Dropkicks headline re the League: Australia win another Rugby League World Cup...wait, what?!
Let's NOT talk about the cricket and those 2 late wickets on Saturday.

I think the BLACKCAPS would be quite chuffed to be 22/3 at this stage.
They were extremely chuffed to have Australia 23/3 (or should I say 3/23) after less than 80 minutes!

the incoming Prime Minister is proof that early predictions of "easy meat gutted by morning tea time" don't always pan out
Except that the table has only just been laid for breakfast!

Whoa, dude, that was harsh.
Quite funny though.
lol
And 22 after 80mins would be a very slow run-rate.

they are best placed to ruthlessly scrutinise Key
and what Dave P just said.
The Goff/King leadership seems a sensible move - it will let the experienced Labour front-bench get some hits on the party who haven't experienced what it's like to be in Govt for nine years and with a leader who has never experienced being in Govt.

The future under National will be...
We're already living longer apparently. Thanks John.
and the price of petrol dropped 5 c/litre today. This new government is superb!

how few of the National voters had even considered their possible coalition options
true - especially that a combo of ACT and the likes of Lockwood Smith, McCully, Williamson et al could push National further to the right than their campaign indicated. Hide has been very critical of National in recent weeks, and now with Douglas as an MP he will be pushing the hard right agenda. Not a pleasant thought.

Martin - could it be as simple as "I don't think the major party deserves my support, but I will vote for someone who supports them"?
I suspect that the majority of voters don't really understand what an overhang is.

The reaction of the Epsom candidates to my feedback when they were cavorting on the Orakei roundabout this week (at different times) was interesting.
I shouted to the ACT guys that "I would never, ever vote ACT" - Rodney yelled back that I was being childish. (He was the grown man in fancy-dress!)
Whereas when I shouted to Richard Worth to vote Labour - he just gave a big chortle and a big NOOO!!!
