Hard News: Narcissists and bullies, in reply to
There is an unspoken rule in society that women are the keepers of public morality, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that some of the girls involved, as well as their friends, see it as Their Job (however subconsciously) to enforce societal norms about what happened.
The time-honoured dual roles.
Elsewhere the Herald can't contain its excitement over the vigilanre "dads" and the prospect of returning to that good old day when rape was a crime against property.

Looks like a concerted effort by a blog site to organise <<media saturation>> and sway public opinion in the desired direction. A first?? or have I just been asleep under a rock for too long??
Dunno, but I do recall the fevered flush of anticipation in political boy-talk circles back in 2005 when an online poll had Destiny taking six seats in the upcoming election. Nothing to do with Bishop Brian directing the flock of course. As a younger & wiser head than mine occasionally reminds me, it's only the bloody internet.

country music – a genre as wide and varied as pop, jazz or classical
He's not wrong.

you can pretty much guess what Karl du Fresne's preferred musical style is. Draw your own conclusion.
Ah so. Goes some way towards explaining the "y'see yesterday mah dawg died" tone that pervades his 'work'.

the dearly departed Kashin, with the young buck Burma
Those are magnificent. From Burma's size there I'm guessing they were taken in late 1993 or 1994, when they'd not long been in their new enclosure. Kashin was a sweet-natured soul who was plagued by foot trouble in her last years. Some claimed that it was from being forced to stand on concrete. She appears to be taking the weight off her affected left rear foot in that last shot.

I seem to recall a few other bands played that song too. It was a bit of a standard.
Knox's kazoo took it to a whole other level.

The best place to start a New Zealand wake might be with the glorious Dunedin Double EP, or the first Hello Sailor album.
A rather slow version of a song that Toy Love made their own.

It’s going to be harder for someone like the brilliant Chris Burt of Inside Track, who made the Power Rangers sound effects, to stay in business.
It's been my privilege to work with Chris Burt on a number of projects, including a magnificent soundtrack which I never really had the opportunity to express my appreciation for. However all of that was a long time ago - in fact it all ended rather abruptly when I had to leave NZ in order to keep working in the film biz. The coming of Hercules c.1993 must have been a salvation for many, as it coincided with a particularly savage recession that decimated the old commercial base of local film production.
When Power Rangers started production here Chris Burt would have been well established for close to a couple of decades as one of NZ's most gifted sound designers. His 'skill base' was developed before foreign production became a mainstay of the local industry. While I fervently wish him the best to continue working in his field for as long as he chooses, wouldn't it have been better to find an example of someone who entered the industry with Power Rangers, and rose to the top of their game via that show?

Living in Sydney, or anywhere in Australia for that matter, there’s a level of acceptance of police corruption that I’d never experienced in NZ.
I know what you mean, legacy of the penal colony & all, but it's not nearly as blatant as it was in the 70s. Then again, NSW has ICAC, which would presumably have taken an interest in Banks's case by now if it had happened there.

Intelligent people are perfectly capable of behaving irrationally. Sexual desire is somewhat famous for clouding the brain.
