The most extraordinary, terrifying pictures of the tsunami sweeping across Northern Japan, on BBC News now!!

Sounds great. Is there a podcast available?
In a bid to reconnect with my Hamiltonian roots, I was drinking by the jug.
Stephen: From my observations, it seems more like bulk RTDs these day. Except for rugby days at the Waikato Stadium (go The Chiefs tomorrow night)

@ Jackie. Well, don't blame us--you are just so damn likeable!

Russell lets loose a monster upon the world but, in the end, it all reverts back to bleeding discussions about coffee!

Have an excellent time in Wellington, Craig. Check out Arty Bees Bookshop if you get the chance.

...and we are getting a very rare screening of my favourite New Zealand film, Illustrious Energy

We're watching more TV than ever
Just to quibble a bit here, and use Craig's caution about the majestic plural, the 'we' here represents the 550 households on the Peoplemeter panel (which is dominated by Pakeha, middle-class and older viewers) who may be watching more television, on the behalf of the rest of us.

I think there are two possible explanations for this appalling (pending?) decision: TVNZ has pretty much lost its loyalty base amongst discerning older viewers (the 55+ category that we all get lumped into, in the name of ratings) and Sky has an effective, full-time lobbyist in Tony O’Brien. In respect of the latter, I would regard it as a form of insider corruption, in that O’Brien is able to sway politicians and policy-makers in favour of his company.

@Tony. I think the heat of February have ripened them early. We also have a second crop of strawberries. When we get sick of the feijoas I must start distributing them around, starting with boxes to friends in Chch.
@ Steve. I share your disgust of this current
Govt but wish we also had a more viable opposition (even though I am a LP member!) -
In other moderately important news, the first ripe feijoa of the year has fallen.
