Back to the original story, congratulations on a great headline Russell.

In a word, no.
The toxin identified, tetrodotoxin, comes from bacteria in several species of fish and marine animals. It's a mystery as to exactly what's going on right now, but this a natural poison.I was initially a skeptic on the poisoning theory but I'm starting to think there is a lot more to the story on this than we are being told.
From what I have heard reported, there is only one dog that has the biotoxin in it's stomach and I think the sea slugs are being made the scapegoat (scapeslug?) for the deaths. I've never seen or heard heard of dogs eating sea slugs before and why did several dogs eat them on the same day?
It may be coincidence that the dog and sea life deaths occurred shortly after the poison drop on Rangitoto and that the affected area is not further up or down the coast but it's something that requires more thorough and transparent investigation.
Some of the poison dropped on Rangitoto ended up in the water. I've even heard of a block landing on a kayak that was paddling past. The poison used is brodifacoum which unlike 1080 does not break down in water but it will bind to organic matter and disperse over time.
I'm not calling this one way or the other, I just think there needs to be a more independent investigation than the current testing by interested parties. -
I have one tiny complaint, and that is: the text-size widget doesn't go big enough for me. It needs a few more notches.
Try pressing Command and + or ++ or +++. Oh that's right, you need a Mac first.

The Women's Refuge Appeal is collecting on the 24th and 25th of July. But you can slip them a twenty via their website right now. It's something you can do, and it's easy.
Just done it. Sure is easy, everybody should try.
Pity we can't fix the s***s who do the abuse quite as easily.
Great post Emma. -
The bafoon is an over-rated instrument of limited range. Better to take up the strumpet.
If you can't find a strumpet you can always try a solo on the pink oboe.

I don't mind if they put folate in my bread but who asked permission to put palm oil in my chocolate?

Please, please give us some reporting, or failing that, how about some fucking information!
Wooo who pushed your angry button Rob? This is a forum for discussion and of course the odd wry observations. Where does it say anything about journalism? Links to sites and information from informed commentators are posted to allow people to make their own minds up. Try the links on the original post. If you're still not happy, try the "Your Views" on the Herald website, I'm sure you'll be welcome there.

current poll question at Kiwiblog
"Do you support the requirement for folic acid to be added to bread to reduce the risk of birth defects?"
with a choice of voting 'yes' or 'no'
last look saw 9% saying yes.I can't help thinking that those Kiwiblog readers may be a bit "in-bread" themselves.

Sorry, I can't tell if John Key being wishy today or is it washy?
His party signed up to the policy while in opposition. Didn't they realise that by signing up if they came to power they would have to implement it?
Perhaps they were too used to other people having to take the consequences for decisions, it sure looks like it caught them by surprise. -
Was your opening bit about Logan Campbell to soften us up for the news that to help pay the mortgage you are going to start renting out one of your spare rooms by the hour?
