it's not the first time that the continuation on another page of a story in the SST hasn't made it to the electronic edition ... might be incompetence rather than conspiracy ....

oh my - um just so full of interesting quotes

Anyone know if Hong Kong is inside the wall - when I was there earlier this year some potentially interesting stuff seemed inaccessible - but probably not as much as I'd have expected if it were (no problems with PA though).
Of course Taiwan which is technically sort of part of China (according to both PRC and the Taiwanese govt), and where I've been spending months lately is outside the wall

I’ve been seeing “stakeholder” showing up more and more – I think “stakeholders” are the mates the govt or local govt bring in to support them to pretend they are listening and avoid having to have real public input – they are the guys who hold the stakes while the public are reamed by the govt
They are also often a bunch of twatcocks

since it's Friday a story (a true one, from yesterday):
When I had my first job, just graduated working for the local Uni I got the job of outfitting a workshop - I spent a day wandering around town costing out the tools we needed ... at almost every hardware store I went into I got a smart remark from the (usually) old buy behind the counter .... it wasn't until close to the end of the day that I realised that "excuse me do you have any small vices?" might have another meaning.
So yesterday I found myself in the local big-box hardware store that long ago replaced all those small hardware stores ... looking for, you've guessed it ... a small vice ... with a great sense of deja vu I tried my line ..... and the pimply-faced youth behind the counter completely missed it and led me to the (a)isle of vices - kids these days, just no clues

let's not forget dutch ovens ....

back when I had a green card I was legally required to carry it on me at all times - even when swimming at a nude beach - be careful when you handle those things you never know where they've been

I think that traditionally USAians just carried driver’s licenses during jaunts into Canada/Mexico (no longer true) – which is one reason so few of them ever have passports
Unlike the rest of the world the US has no international transit facilities, so if you stop over while traveling from Mexico to Canada that means entering the US even if you're just getting back on the same flight

what is with NZ politicians on the right and this sense of entitlement ..... going into parliament is NOT supposed to be a way to make money

Andrea - almost exactly that - when Real Groiovy gobbled everything else up then went belly up we weren't left with much else (the Warehouse and a JB) - I buy maybe 1/10 the amount of music I did before RG went under - and 90% of that is outside Dunedin
