But also, I was intimidated by the Very Smart People here... And then I started commenting on Emma's posts, and that was that.
None taken.

No, it wasn't. That was "Don't be a dick."
Damn, and I was going to talk about cars.
At least two of my threads have been derailed by conversations about cars. I secretly love it. I find the organic nature of the conversation delightful.

Ah, Russell has JUST beaten me to "It's a fair cop, but my gender-normative privilege is to blame."

But I think there's also a critical mass thing. If I see a whole bunch of guys talking, I don't feel welcome to join in. If there's a discussion with plenty of female input, I do.
See, I don't get that, but that might relate to how many of my RL close friends are male.
Yes. OTOH, the highly discursive nature of discussions is one of PAS's delights.
Discursive. Recursive...

Out of curiosity does anyone work in a place where PAS is blocked?
WebMarshall HATES me. But in the cases I'm aware of, something about the specific content of a page has tripped it, rather than the whole site being blanket-banned.

Oh you meant her *blog*, not her home. #lessbrave
Dude, it's even LESS admirable to turn up at someone's house. That'd be really fucking Not Okay.

Ha, I just went to find that post, so Sacha could assess whether he wanted to use the word "brave" to describe that, rather than "condescending" or "borderline abusive".

Yeah, and that's why a lot of us, especially, I suspect women, don't read The Standard. He is also the dude who is So Very Busy counting his stats and Not Moderating, that he had a whole day to tell me in very many ways how very wrong I was, and why The Standard is, "the biggest megaphone in the blogosphere". So, you know, grain of salt.
I'll admit to having deliberately wound Lyn up at Megan's place. Suffice it to say he thinks moderating is "deleting offensive comments", and he's rather be programming or something. You get the culture you breed, twonkface.

Yeah, I was considering coming up, because I had such a great time at the last one
S'true. I offered her half my bed and everything. Now I have a spare half a bed...
speaking as a bloke I guess a measure of your success is that I take it for granted the contribution made by teh women’s XV et al.
I always assume that all my conversations that aren't one on one involve members of both genders. Why wouldn't they? That'd just be weird.

One has never seen so little of Emma ;-)
It's true, I have never been that covered-up. And that's the way it stayed, all night.
