Hard News: Why we thought what we thought, in reply to
Yes but he was well placed to regain that seat later that year, and was probably the only Labour candidate who could. He had also been involved in advocacy for tightening up drink driving rules. Enough to raise suspicions now about the sources for that whole story. No witnesses were ever named.

There are any number of stories in the past five years that we might now peel back and inspect in this light, and ask why we thought we what thought about those stories.
I hope something comes to light about the setting up of MP Darren Hughes. It was very fishy at the time - including an unnamed person reporting a naked man running through Hataitai in the early hours of the morning. The effect was the forced resignation of one of the most popular Labour MPs and the freeing up of a provincial seat.

What happened to the worm? The Herald provided an interactive dial thing but not sure who monitored or who could see it. It was hard work watching the live streams from both TVNZ and the Green room and tapping the dial all on one computer screen!
Afterwards joined the crowds wandering around the wonderful Lux light sculpture displays along the Wellington waterfront and along the little lanes. Some were activated by screaming which delighted the many children taking advantage of that opportunity. It’s on till Sunday night so those who can should go.

Hard News: UPDATED: Media Take: Election…, in reply to
Those were standard articles about a politician and it wasn't during an election campaign. This one is a picture of a politician masquerading as an All Black, wearing their uniform, and flanked by real All Blacks. A use and abuse of 'iconic' imagery on many levels, designed to be displayed prominently on shop shelves throughout NZ during an election campaign. No authorisation statement either.
-
What about the cover of the rugby magazine with John Key pretending to be an All Black? It is in every book and magazine shop and dairy across NZ. Surely that is an election advertisement. Much more so than a song or a former MP's dresses.

Giovanni's latest Bat Bean Beam post is angry and sad at the state of NZ journalism.

Lovely piece by Mandy Hagar on her brother http://mandyhager.blogspot.fr/p/occasional-political-rant.html

Love the way that some commentators are now disclosing their interests before commenting. Maybe things will get more ethical now.

Yet another piece of fall out. One story in Dirty Politics concerns the cleaning industry and lobbying by WO and co against a hard fought government agreement on some standards to protect workers (and eventually overturned by Simon Bridges this year). Now the head of the BSC wants some answers http://www.voxy.co.nz/politics/bsc-president-demands-answers-over-hager-book/5/199497?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

I wonder what will happen to ipredict now that it has been shown up as just another tool for manipulation of the message?
