The ratio issue might have something to do with the Rickards interview in the first section (which is in 4:3).
-
While we're on the topic of "this is broken" -- the video files on TVNZ O.D. are in 4:3 so the widescreen picture is stretched at the top & bottom.

While we're on the subject of random linkage, I've cobbled together a Greasemonkey script for Firefox which should add direct links to the downloadable FLV files on the Media 7 pages on the TVNZ On Demand site. You can download it here.
It adds links to the individual chapters just below the episode number (as per this screenshot) -- you should be able to download the FLV files and watch them using a player such as the mighty VLC. Experience suggests this should (hopefully) ensure folks considered "overseas" can watch the show.
I've tried it out with Firefox 2.0.0.13 on Windows and Linux and it works fine, although Steve-not-at-my-work did have a problem with it which I haven't been able to sort out despite having the same client and OS. If you have issues with it, feel free to let me know via email.
I suppose potentially this could be extended to other shows on the TVNZ OD site -- let me know if you have much success with it.

This? Is terrific.

I would heartily encourage any Aucklanders to go see "The Hollow Men". It might not seem the most obvious story for a stage show but it's fascinating and, at least IMHO, quite sypathetic towards Brash. It's at the Maidment, I think, until next Saturday.
And also: Media 7 direct FLV download links: part 1, part 2, part 3. Anyboy want to volunteer to write a greasemonkey to automatically extract these?

Keith -- if you refrained from retorting with "no, buddy, you're the one who needs to sharpen up and not talk crap when you get caught out", you're a better man than me (a fairly insubstantial feat, truth be told).

Interestingly I know of one high-profile NZ clothing brand who have recently migrated most of their manufacturing to China, and are happy to claim (in private) that the sewing of the Chinese-made garments is superior to the locally-made versions.
