Stupid and stupider - two streams of thought Late one night:
STUPID
It's not the economy stupid.
The people are still here; the ability to provide good and services is still there; the purpose of the economy to provide goods and services to people.
It's the manner the economy is run and regulated, stupid.
That failure rests with the (successive) governments both globally and nationally.
STUPIDER
I am not sure whether the ACT party shoudl be called the Kamikaze Party of the Hara-Kiri Party - they really are a laugh and a half.

In a nutshell the future is bleak and we are all screwed. SCF is part of the iceberg we have run ourselves into and we are sinking.
We are probably lucky our banks are Australian owned so we couldn't screw them up to badly.
The phenomenal growths of credit since the 70s through to now has gone unchecked and capital markets during this time have largely operated without regulatory controls.
Governments during this sustained period of hyper credit have failed to legislate for the “good of the public”, they have grown massive bureaucracies, reduced services, and have been happy to collect the windfall hat hyper credit has bestowed from consumption taxes and to a lesser degree personal tax.
Remember the 1987 crash – Banks/Finance/Property Development Companies flourished, lending got out of control and there was spectacular failure in considerable numbers.

The regulation surrounding capital markets is so lax that this “thing” happens again and again and again ad infinitum.
The NZ domestic economy is suffering as a result – all the savings that disappear represent the loss of present and future spending in the domestic economy and an increased burden on welfare/the taxpayers.

Thomas Jefferson said:
"The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers."The problem with the print media going digital is that the print media fail to fulfil their most useful purpose - providing something to wrap rubbish in before it goes into the bin.
I'm on the side of Wikileaks and the use of it by and in quality journalism is powerful, knowledge is power.
Wikileaks is an illumination in darkness.

Pam is the Keef Richards of NZ Public Life, albeit somewhat more jaded and with a less developed sense of fun.

That is such an obvious question.
If the particles floating around form an idea in the mind of the prime minister or any minister - then let it be so - they are after all gods stalking this earth - Hmm vanity.
I am sure the economy is managed with an equal amount of sense.
What a "phuck" up.

I'm late but after reading Lucia\s blog entry “Protector's Predator's and Prey” it is best ignored as to consider and respond to it is to step into shit.
Have recently seen two of the best games of rugby in my life the Maoris defeating England and the Abs defeating the Boks on Saturday – The BS that abounds at the moment takes away from those two outstanding achievements.
Hayden has used the situation, (Brooke, the ambassadorship, the occasion of the ABs Boks clash) to gain attention from which he will likely benefit – it doesn’t appear he was that interested in the role in any real sense.

The sheds - at present the inability of the parties involved to work together is a childishly insane.
A few thought on the sheds are that they could relatively easily and cheaply remove the asbestos sheets, clad the sheds in a mix of iron and clear sheeting leaving exposed timber visible or any other features that are worth preserving.
Make the big shed resemble, both on the inside and outside, a sports club/local ruby club rooms (with a range of bars) and have the small shed as food court/restaurant/multi cafe space.
At ground level have clear sliders that allow a view of the harbour.
This could be done in the short term while "they" work through a design process more suitable for the long-term use.

The problem with self-crucifixion is getting that last nail in, the comparison to Jesus in Brown's HOS interview showed him as weak, unbalanced, and lacking judgment; the only plus being he didn’t say he was Black Jesus and bust out some rap.

English has been caught lying and should be gone.
The matter has the odour of favours paid to set up a "thang" for which part of its purpose is, in the short and mid term, take a significant portion of the Pacific Vote from Labour.
The lack of process is basically putting the money down before the horse and cart are in place.
The opposition should be pressing the point.
