Speaker: An Open Letter To David Cunliffe, in reply to
I gather he also went out this headline this morning with the headline "The King is Dead, Long Live the Queen" and a pic of Robertson with a tiara added.
That was last week. He's also repeatedly tried to get imaginary dirt on Grant's partner. Must be tough being back to irrelevancy.

(Sorry, Cunliffe, isn't in the Robertson camp actually. He's also younger than our very unpopular the Prime Minister. But yeah, let's just say he needs to go, because it sounds good.)

Speaker: An Open Letter To David Cunliffe, in reply to
This is the most salient point. Labour really needs to clear out the oldies that are there on reputation, not form. The likes of Goff, King, Cunliffe and Mallard all need to retire.
All of the people you mention are rock solid Robertson supporters. The cognitive disconnect between "the party needs to rejuvenate" and "let's go Grant Robertson!" is frankly staggering.

Hard News: A message from The Fabians, in reply to
As I mentioned in another thread, we already know there are divisions in the Labour Caucus, but I'm pretty sure it's nowhere near like the Lange-Douglas split of 1989.
This one isn't so much a split within caucus as a power struggle between caucus and the membership, though. Caucus has made it as clear as it possibly could that it won't work with the guy the members and the union chose. Trevor's refusal to be gagged follows the same kind of logic - caucus wants to assert itself. This could get patched over if Robertson decisively wins the contest this time (as I imagine he will), but the tension isn't going to go away. And if he's so confident of his numbers, why he had to attack Cunliffe for the man apology yesterday, and why so many of his colleagues continue to speak to the media, is really unclear to me.

Hard News: The humanity, in reply to
Yes. But that’s not the same as demanding an apology from Cunliffe to the country. That’s just silly.
Mary Wilson did that on Sunday morning.

Hard News: Five further thoughts, in reply to
I'd love a moratorium on (public) political polling during the election campaign. I think the perception that the Nat victory was in the bag turned a lot of people off voting. And it encourages horse-race journalism, which debases all of us.
Italy has such a law. I am fond of it.

Speaker: Prospects for inclusive…, in reply to
I'm not convinced mainstreaming willl ever be the best for all children.
It's a very legitimate point, but the balance to be struck is very fraught. Unfortunately units and special schools are also used as a backdoor to effectively remove the option of mainstreaming.

dancing on the line of acceptability
That's still one of my favourite songs of the 80s.

Speaker: Prospects for inclusive…, in reply to
New Zealand needs every child to have the opportunity to perform to his or her potential if we are to regain a successful economy and offer a reasonable quality of life for all our people.
A point that is seldom raised - although the Greens did - is that inclusion is good for all children, regardless of ability. The fear that having disabled children in the classroom will disrupt the teaching and learning of the group is simply unfounded, so long as a school is resourced adequately and applies a robust philosophy.

To be fair, I did call him an imbecile, but that was after a particularly creepy exchange he had with Danielle. And I fully stand by my assessment.
