Let the deconstruction begin!
Well, for a start, the speech was yesterday.

Latest Asia NZ media newsletter gives N&S and Debs the burn.
A fraction:
The ‘grab bag’ approach taken to include as many negative features that can be possibly associated with immigration from Asian countries including, quite unnecessarily, a single case of TB, presents a distorted, discriminatory and alarmist view of Asian communities in New Zealand.
So two questions loom: How did an article so biased and representative of prejudice against Asians get written by an “award winning journalist” (taken from an ACP media release) without paying due heed to the principles of balance and accuracy? And how did editorial processes fail to spot the inaccuracies and imbalance in the article before publication?

How do you do a little smilie of a crying person? Would it even be a smilie? Would it be a cry -ie ?
:'-(
Perhaps it would simplify your problem if you referred to them as 'emoticons'.
To pull this back on topic, you can get you Star Wars emoticons here.

Mark the space or spaces that apply to you
... and I believe this is the first census where all of your answers would have ended up in the record (so the percentages, as the graph says, do not add to 100).

And here was me gently chiding someone for using "descent" for "dissent" elsewhere just today...
Possibly to make an observation made without particular regard to the looking?
Or as used above, to offer one that does someone a disservice they deserve?

Probably been pointed to elsewhere, but seeing as it's come freely available since it was first under discussion, Keith's Listener piece is here.

She has a letter in the new Listener claiming that you are the one who is "mistaken" about statistics
I haven't actually read the letter, but I would abserve that 'I know you are, but what am I?' isn't a defence that works with matters of empirical fact and mathematics.

I understand that movie companies like to screw people on percentage-of-the-net contracts by doing things like owning the catering company, which overcharges horrendously.

Just on DRM and meta-copyright and so on...
Something that becomes even more pertinent when this sort of thing is being protected by the state - what happens when the copyright does expire?
I suppose the companies have a right to put out stuff so you can't get at it ever - even it becomes perverse.
But will people be liable for punishment one day for trying to access something that's no longer copyright?
If not: an interesting (if paper-thin) defense occurs - "I was investigating and publishing how to break the DRM on these files, so people would be able to access them as they became legal".

Any guesses on what that OS might be?
Rockbox!
But, y'know, with a cellphone thingy.
As to what OS it will be released with, I've no idea.
