  • Hard News: Wild is the Weekend,

I could only listen to Radio Sport's Commentary (as I suspect 1/2 the north island was due to power cuts and rain fade), and by God, couldn't those Aussie commentators at least spend a few minutes pre-match learning how to pronounce the All Black's names?

    It was painful.

  • Hard News: Wild is the Weekend,

Had that penalty try been awarded, and we somehow managed to win the match, do you think that bs 'blood bin' substitution of Cowan/Ellis would have led to our points being docked?

  • Island Life: What it don't get, I can't use.,

I can't find a clip on youtube, but Jaquie Brown totally stitched Key up during the NZ Music Awards last year (or NZ Music Month or something). She asked what NZ CD was his favourite, and he said the new one by Brooke Fraser.

Clarke then asked what songs in particular he liked on it. And he said "Uhh. Umm. All of them, they're all great. Ahh, I don't really know the song titles, you know just that they're good" - or words very much to that effect.

  • Hard News: Debating Clydesdale,

Maybe you need to refer to the nightline guy as David Farrar to even up the score.

  • Hard News: Friday Fun,

Yeah, Making Tracks was excellent. Waaay better than the promos made out.

Anyway, I mentioned this yesterday, but now I can embed it. Something in here for everyone who's ever been to YouTube. It's only missing Rick Astley.

    Weezer - Pork and Beans

  • Hard News: Too Good to Be True,

This is off-topic so I don't wanna totally hijack the thread by embedding a YouTube clip.

But if you haven't yet seen Weezer's new video "Pork and Beans", go look it up on youtube. Memetastic is the only word for it. I'm sure most of the people here will love it.

  • Hard News: TV list show in "doesn't…,

I forgot about and subsequently missed 3/4 of Rock the Nation last night.

Anyone know if it's going to have a repeat, err , 'encore' screening on C4? (the website doesn't indicate so)

  • Random Play: The canyons of my mind,

I saw the roadies tuning the guitars side stage after the first encore, and nobody rushing on to dismantle the set, so had thought he was intending coming back.

    Bah!

Couldn't the bloody lights have been turned back off again?

  • Random Play: The canyons of my mind,

I liked most of the Ray Davies show last night. I did feel sorry for Ray trying to muster singalongs from the reluctant audience from the get-go. It was a bit painful when the audience was still pretty quiet (the odd pocket excepted) by the end of the first set. They warmed up by the end (All Day & All of the Night, Lola) though, in anticipation for You Really Got Me & Waterloo Sunset, neither of which materialised.

There was a bit of grumbling behind me about that when it the house lights came on, but really, you can't expect an artist to sing the same songs every single show of his life. I thought the balance between new and old songs was about right.

And Simon Le Bon & associates in the private balcony looked to be having a great time, though not quite as good as the young fellow, row two, dead centre.

I've just read your new interview on elsewhere, Graham. Thanks for that!

  • Hard News: Buy now: spend the recession inside!,

I assume the integrated Freeview-TVs will all have video-out sockets?

Don't see much point in buying a TV where you can't record stuff on your VHS/DVD-R/HDD/Whatever.
