And a last ditch campaign has really got some traction, trending on twitter!

    Cross the Floor

Unlikely to work, but I guess it is better than nothing.

Running out the clock? It’s a classic, and a not-at-all-surprisingly effective one – especially when you’ve got an interviewer who thinks they’re going to be able to browbeat a subject into giving an answer they’ve no intention of giving.

Now I am fully aware it is not considered a current affairs show, BUT from time to time The Daily Show in the US do pull out some truly good interviews. A big reason for that seems to be the ability to fill the original on air time slot, and then if they want to run over they put the rest of the interview up on their website.

I always thought this was such a good idea, and wondered why more serious current affairs shows do not take advantage of the technology this way? It seems to solve the problem of keeping it short and sweet for your average audience, but for those that want the full interview they can view it online for the full detail. And with a "difficult" subject, it really gives them the time to fight it out.

Is it more a case of the production costs involved? That's the only reason I can come up with. Especially in NZ, it seems like it could have a lot of potential.

That's what I thought, too, given that Campbell has been criticised in the past for being too combative. Was he holding back? I really wanted him to keep the PM on point but he allowed him to wander rather that distilling the interview down to a few pertinent points.

There is a small part of me that questions how deliberate that was. I think it is fair to say if they get the PM back on, like he says he would, Campbell wouldn't let him get away with it twice.

So... Key just apparently used the teapot tapes in HIS defence. My god.

If the seized texts really do show that the recording was inadvertent, then, you know..Pants on fire...

  • Hard News: It's worse than you think, in reply to Danielle,

My whole family is of the National voting persuasion, and a large number of my friends. Being from a strong national electorate, that is hardly surprising.

The polling has had me confused too, because all this so-called "spy gate" shenanigans has left an impression on the right wingers I know. Some are actually saying, and I quote, "John Key has lost the plot. "

But they just do not know where to go from there, because they do not see a strong opposition. They might vote Labour despite this, except the Greens policies are traditionally out of step with the interests of a North Canterbury farming electorate.

I have to conclude it is not so much that National is approved of, more they are just considered a default option.
