First stadium concert... 1984, Elton John @ Western Springs.. looking back it was pretty good despite what was clearly an odd time for him having just married German Renate Blauel and his new stuff was not quite as good as his old stuff, I went with a couple of mates and one of their mums took us. I was awed by the size of the crowd
First concert... not entirely sure, my Mum was a serial prize winner on Radio Hauraki in the 1970's and she won countless records (vinyl baby!) and concert tickets, so I have vauge memories performances by Hello Sailer, Dragon, Split Enz and more in parks
School concerts of note.. The Mockers, with Andrew Fagan in full purple ape suit and Dance Exponents belting out Victoria to a hall of 13 and 14 year olds... we had no real fucking clue what the songs were really about, but it made for a very rowdy lunch hour!
I did regret not going to see Bowie on the Serious Moonlight tour @ Western Springs when school mates did

Last night was awake until after 1:30am... my mind would not stop racing, despite a body screaming out that it was tired from renovation work on the weekend. I suspect too much shitty coffee @ work.
Does quality of coffee make a difference?

Okay, so as an ex-TVNZ friend explained it to me, U was always on a limited time as it was the remains of the old charter, so there was a clock ticking somewhere, but as Russell points out, viewer figures were pretty good.
Kevin Kenrick stated that it was not commercially viable, so why is that so if viewer numbers were good?
I suspect that TVNZ's media sales team have never adjusted for the U audience.
Personally I'd have gotten impatient with the sales team, .. thoughts?

Firstly, I think y'all are very brave using a bike to commute around Auckland (or any other city in Auckland), I've had too many bad incidents to even consider it now.. the thoughts of those incidents still make me nervous... but I'm a dedicated off-road rider and ride a minimum of four times a week.
I can recommend Ground Effect (their jackets are extremely good) and NZO (http://www.nzoactive.com/) for good shirts and shorts.
I used to ride SPD, but have swapped to flat pedals and really good "sticky" shoes. Look at 5Ten or Teva, though a good pair of skate shoes will work very well, just not so warm and water resistent in the rain.
Gloves are compulsory, check out Riders Depot on Barry's Point Rd for a great selection.
Another thing to consider is the Buff (http://www.buffusa.com/) scarf/headwear, get one with UV protection, it'll save you from some unexpected sun exposure, especially if you are as folic-ally challenged as me.
