OT, but funny. Did anyone else see Copeland's mathematical explanation of why he was duty-bound to stay in parliament? SOmething along the lines of, UF polled 0.5%, of which 66% was for the Christian (Copeland) faction of the party, therefore..

Or if he's convicted of a crime punishable by 2 or more years. I think..

If he gets ejected from the party, Worth can stay on as an independent until the next election. I liked the Espiner "sense of entitlement" line...

or men..

I think by "appropriate authority" Craig means the police.. Just a thought, but sometimes when you're being harrassed you don't want the harrasser to front up to police, you just want them to cut that shit out. Which is pretty much what the first woman said.
Craig, you seem to be implying that if it's not serious enough to go to the cops it's not serious enough to object to. This kind of thinking is one of the reasons why so few women complain in anyway about harrassment. -
Thanks David... The relative emphasis on economy/economics/business/employer etc etc is interesting

Absolutely - frankly if they both fail that test then I'm struggling to find any sympathy. I guess my point is that it's not that difficult to avoid looking like an arsehole. If you can't manage that, then chances are that you are in fact an arsehole, so tough titty if the public finds out. (Realise am possibly spitting in the wind here)

....Rule number 1: Don't. Be. A dick.

In my (v. limited) experience, 2 factors negated the need for *media awareness training* (yet anyway) - 1 was the family being taboo. Given that's not to be relied on, the other was common sense sans training, i.e., don't make an arse of your family member at work. Because the work's in the public eye, don't be a dick in the public eye. Heh dick in the public eye. Sorry v. inarticulate and simplistic, but not that difficult, unless there's some determined muck raking going on.

..."Am I right?"
Yeah probably, it's a wgtn story because of how close to home it was to a number of people. Mind you, it was probably some comfort that if everybody with a potential conflict was turfed out, there'd be a pool of around 50 employees, and it would be skewed towards the pricks that no-one wanted to talk to ;)
And that recently deleted post was way off in too many ways I could be bothered to address.
