Loving the irony today. On the one hand, Key is happy to hide behind the law if it can prevent the transcript of the tea tapes from being made public, and on the other he is above the law if he thinks there are some potential votes in it.

Just in: police say they will execute a search warrant on Radio NZ today or tomorrow, in pursuit of “unpublished material”, subsequent to the interview with Bradley Ambrose.
I think this just got WAY out of hand.

Farce is one thing: police raids on the media (RNZ!) quite another. Presumably they’re looking for any scrap of evidence Ambrose knew he was recording the conversation at the time. (They must recognise the impossibility of seizing all copies of the material itself- not raiding HOS or TV3.)
Do they usually signal this sort of thing? Or is that a way of saying to RNZ: clean up your audio files before tomorrow at dawn? -

Now Boscowan's back in the race, who can keep up with ACT? And how's this for a doozy quote from the Dr:
"I would certainly be disappointed not to be in there [Parliament]," he said. "But when you contest an election, sometimes you have to accept that you won't win."
I think that should be never in his case.

Oddily, what I've heard is that Boscowan's regarded as a good operator by most in parliament. What is it with celebrity? Why not reward talent and application? I didn't like Simon Upton, but I respected him...

I can't help thinking that Duncan Garner might just be the happiest person in the country right now.
Yes Duncan has learnt the art of persistence ,I'll give him that but the interview in the domain is not Duncan. Credit where credits due. It was Patrick Gower who interviewed Banks, and that shot at the end where he wonders off alone into the
sunset, shoulders hunched like a man already accepting defeat. That's priceless.

I remember hearing an item on ABC radio at the time of the original MMP referendum, where Australian political pundits discussed events in NZ. One offered the opinion that MMP would probably get up, perhaps for no better reason than that Helen Clark and Simon Upton didn’t like it. NZers, he believed, would take that as an endorsement.

It won't be a raid. Most media organisations have a policy of not releasing their material to the police upon request. Means they can protect sources as much as possible.
Police will therefore execute a search warrant to force the organisation to release the material. It's very standard. No doors will be getting kicked in.

I say again if they take computers away it will seriously undermine the media's ability to report this election, hell just having the cops in at your place of work is very distracting.

I am interested in under Commerce what the long run implications of:
NZ companies: Require all New Zealand companies to have either one resident director or a local agent.
We cease to become a nation and become a pool of "renters".
Also all of the New Policies in Employment Law - thatthey call it Employment Law rahter than Employment Relations - and what will be the impact on working people - ;Starting out Wage/Collective Bargaining/Constructive Dismissal, and FWAs - Flexible Working Arrangements.
The Head of Fltecheras offered, in a Herald article this week, some pointers to the govt on how to get the economy moving - and although this advice was sound and the right thing to do now - I don't think matters will move in that direction.
We have and are going to have a government of and one that benefits corporate players.
It really is eonough to make one want to give up and leave.

I'm not conceding anything. It is not my race. Although one thing I will concede, is that Brand Key is dangerous and we ain't seen nothing yet if this lot are allowed to continue.
My hopes and aspirations are the same as they always have been. I only want what's fair for everyone in an equal society.so I'm quite happy in that headspace.
Treating a Nation like liabilities on a balance sheet does not a friendly society make. It creates a destitute one.
