Doctor Hook, live on German TV, you say? Oh yes.
I'm sold already.

Looking back through mainly Later with Jools Holland, you get an interesting insight into the evolution of one Polly Jean Harvey.
Dress - 1992
This is Love - 2001
Let England Shake - 2011
As a late breaking fan (probably early noughties) it's cool to look back.

Amazing documentary on New Order’s iconic Blue Monday was just posted on their Facebook page, made by Swedish National Television. Recorded last year, and includes interviews with the whole band, including the estranged Hook, and sleeve designer Peter Saville.
The best bit for me was when they explain all the ‘references’ in the track. Most I wasn’t surprised by, [SPOILER ALERT] but I can’t recall hearing the Klein and MBO track Dirty Talk before. Fascinating.

Here's another Monks track that caught my interest from the West German TV pop show "Beat Beat Beat" in 1966 . It's not so much the music but the introduction by the show's host as he effortlessly jumps between English and German (probably to cater for the large number of allied troops stationed in West Germany at the time). I do have another language up my sleeve (Hungarian) but I'm still envious at the ease at which Germans seem to be able to pick up multiple languages (the Dutch are a similar).

Here’s another Monks track
I'm not sure about their tonsure?
Are they shaved, or stuck on? -
just rumbled this piece of greatness from The Beat Club - they reckon it's the Walker Brothers, but I'm wondering if it's a rare Scott Walker duet with a very early doors Napoleon Dynamite.
Leggy Mountbatten would have loved the trousers.

Belatedly: I read that Dr Hook piece a few months back and was actually crying with laughter. It's so, so good.

The introduction to Something Else has the same feeling as this classic. Coincidence? Nozin' Around

Was that the one when Karen was obviously stoned and Sam Hunt made an appearance? Sam had just been given some accolade for poetry and Karen asked what he got for it, he made mention of something and then spread his arms wide and said, "..and a really, really big bag of pot." My teenage self fell to the floor laughing.
Live TV in New Zealand in the 1980's was grand. You could get away with some other remarkable things too once in a while.

does anyone remember the 89/90 nye music show, i think it was titled ‘and finally this’? a very young very long haired robert rakete was one of the hosts and they had a giant neon ice cream sundae sculpture – pressing the cherry on top caused a racey (for the times) video to play. one of these included a live recording of a plasmatics song in which the frontwomyn sledgehammers and blows up a gto whilst wearing a leotard backwards with large pieces of duct tape over her nipples. robin thicke, so old hat
we had a vhs of it i watched semi regularly until well into the 90s, but i ’ve since lost track of it and can’t find the show anywhere on the interwebs. it was gold i tells ya

That Billy T skit is amazing, because it actually feels like it is Playschool.

Hi all. Just leaving up the above spam while we sort out who's doing it. It doesn't seem to be the company themselves.
