  • Simon Grigg,

That was Sean Quinn, though, his roving reporter. And what a magnificent job he's done.

Yeah, I knew that, but without Nate.......

  • Simon Grigg,

Heh! That'd be great, but I'm not sure I'd be able to grow the requisite moustache.

Nah...you just have to pretend you're Australian. They come here and buy armfuls of the things and take them back to Geelong and Ryde...apparently you just can't tell the difference

  • Sofie Bribiesca,

We got one visit (stayed at pub to avoid the endless stream). We don't eat sweets so wasn't sure what the other half was going to offer. He came up with oranges. I offered alcohol, he laughed and so did his mum, at which point i thought perhaps 7 was a bit young to get them started. :)

  • Russell Brown,

Josh comments on some fairly astonishing numbers out of a new CBS poll, where the previously ropey "likely voters" metric is now being seriously re-aligned with the addition of the "already voted":

According to the CBS poll, for all likely voters (that includes those who've already voted plus likelies) it's Obama 54%, McCain 41%.

Among those who've already voted, it's Obama 57%, McCain 38%. And that number is not inconsistent with numbers coming out of a lot of the early voting states.

The numbers among early voters are markedly different -- ie: more Democrat -- to those in 2004.

America might get the landslide it needs.

Its all over bar the counting, it's a landslide for McPalin

And here is your (late) October surprise:

Dr Peter Millican, a philosophy don at Hertford College, Oxford, has devised a computer software program that can detect when works are by the same author by comparing favourite words and phrases

He was contacted last weekend and offered $10,000 (£6,200) to assess alleged similarities between Obama’s bestseller, Dreams from My Father, and Fugitive Days, a memoir by William Ayers.

They just get crazier and crazier

Then there is the endorsement no-one wants

Jesus H Christ. I wonder how long good ol' boys and gals will keep throwing that despicable phrase "america hating" around, about anyone who doesn't think the same as them? Makes me spit.

At least he's not threatening to attack America if Obama wins, as The Onion had him doing four years ago in the event of a Kerry victory:

Hey, give me around twenty grand NZ and I'll do it. They both written in English, and contain nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions and punctuation marks.

Please make that cheque out to C. Ash.

Grigg, I'm taking your Bill-Ayers-somehow-secretly-wrote-Obama's-book and I'm raising you an Obama is the secret love child of Malcolm X.

    No shit.

If you scroll down to the end of the hilariously detailed "proof", the comments are even crazier. It's hard to understand how people can be that crazy and not just explode or something.

I'm sure someone would be claiming he's a space alien if Colbert hadn't already done that in February:

Russell do you have anyone from the lab working on this recent embedding failure? I really do want to see all the vids people are posting.

I think the issue might be Flash 10 breaking the embedding. It's working fine for me, but I'm still on Flash 9.

Can I ask everyone it's happening to confirm platform and version? (Right-click on a Flash movie to get the version.)

Shit. Makes Labour's new ad look positively sane -- I just hope Concerned Mum who "just can't trust" John Key doesn't turn out to be an actor -- who first met her Bubba at a casting call.

I'm waiting for the ad that asks if John Key is a secret muslim,
Or John McCains secret love child.

How do you know John Key's isn't a trannie Ruth Richardson? Have you ever seen them both in the same room?

Obama: I'd like to congratulate Senator McCain on this endorsement because he really earned it. That endorsement didn't come easy. Senator McCain had to vote 90 percent of the time with George Bush and Dick Cheney to get it. He served as Washington's biggest cheerleader for going to war in Iraq, and supports economic policies that are no different from the last eight years. So Senator McCain worked hard to get Dick Cheney's support.

Imagery I did not need #25336

In answer, though, while I had no time for Richardson's incredibly selfish policy, I could at least understand how heartless they were. With Key, I'm pushed to understand anything.

Imagery you do not need #25337(?):
Ruth shamelessly dry-humped Douglas at every chance. Key's rather more circumspect.

More thunderous poll news to ease your fears: WaPo and ABC polls basically replicating the CBS poll, and Gallup finishing its polling predicting an 11-point Obama win in the popular vote.
