CactusLab, the developers of this website, are clever people. As a company, they're responsible for a bunch of interesting sites and iOS projects, from TheAudience to the Localist app. Karl von Randow, who founded the company with Matt Buchanan, is a developer on the excellent and globally popular Camera+ photography app.
And then there's Letterboxd, the social film review site put together by the team because, well, they love movies and talking about them.
Letterboxd this week published its 2013 Year in Review, and it's intriguing. It's easier for you to look at the page (it's very pretty) than for me to describe it, but here's the numbers part:
11,608,352 movies marked watched
5,679,054 movie ratings made
1,825,427 diary entries
670,002 reviews
390,557 comments
86,199 lists
3,286,931 hours spent watching films
68,534,004 words written about movies in 2013
Matt explains here how the rankings were generated.
It's really impressive. If you're a movie fan and you haven't been to Letterboxd for a look, I submit that you should.
